Job Title: Financial Analyst

Department: Accounting

Reports To: Controller

Location: Kingsport, TN

 Summary: The Financial Analyst computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining Accounting records by performing the following duties.

Essential Function & Responsibilities:

Assist with preparation of budgets and forecasts

Analyze/reconcile financial statements and accounts

Assist with monthly financial closing process

Prepare journal entries as needed

Reconcile accounts

Compile a list of Checks (Payroll, Payables/Receivables) that should be reported as Unclaimed Properties and prepare reports to send to the state of Tennessee and Virginia (other states, as needed).

Work with Bank Statements and Positive Pay Reports to see what Checks are not clearing the Bank.

Prepare Adjusting Entries, for the Payroll Account, to prepare for the Unclaimed Property Reports.

Engage in personal contact and/or Internet research to locate the individuals, regarding the unclaimed check(s).

Prepare and file Unclaimed Property Reports by state, two (2) times, every year.

Track the Bank Statements to learn what Checks clear and what Checks do not clear.

Manage the Business License process for all companies and branches.

Prepare commission calculations for BDMs and submit to payroll.

Prepare and submit all governmental census reports.

Prepare and submit all New Hire Reports, for all companies and all office locations.

Other duties may be assigned, as needed and/or requested, by: CFO, Controller, and Assistant Controller.

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of financial and accounting concepts
Analytical skills to compile information requiring combinations of data from several sources, the ability to work with numbers and formulas
Solid work ethic, including ability to follow-up, focus on details and take initiative
Intellectual curiosity and strive for continuous improvement – personally and with work assignments
Oral and written communication skills, able to work effectively with employees both internal and external to the finance function
Demonstrate interpersonal skills and capacity to work productively in a team environment
Effective time management and organization skills with a proven ability to multi-task
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Working knowledge of Power Point and Word
BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business preferred
