Job Duties for Healthcare Patient Account Representative Position: 

· Assists supervisor in identifying account issues

· Handles varied tasks and interprets revenue procedures

· Applies knowledge of state/federal regulations, HIPAA, HCFA, TennCare and third-party payer rules

· Seeks supervision and resources when needed

· Follows departmental policies, procedures, safety and infection control standards

· Upholds integrity behaviors including accountability, confidentiality and honest communication

· Understands insurance payer requirements

· Manages patient information and follow-ups for reimbursement

· Communicates professionally with patients, staff, physicians and facilities

· Performs patient account collection functions

· Embraces quality behaviors like celebrating successes, setting goals and teamwork

· Collaborates with supervisors, coworkers and managers

· Attends meetings and committees as required

· Promotes public relations and service behaviors including ownership and responsiveness

· Participates in quality improvement activities

· Assists new employees and attends in-service training

· Models caring behaviors like active listening and conflict resolution

· Commits to learning, development and helping others succeed

· Perform additional related duties following company policies and safety procedures?

Qualifications and Desired Skills for Healthcare Patient Account Representative Position: 

· High school diploma or equivalent 

· 1-2 years healthcare experience preferred

· Computer experience required

· Knowledge of medical terminology, claims submission and customer service preferred

· Familiar with insurance plans, requirements and collection practices like Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

· Ability to sit for duration of shift
