Details for Compensation and Benefits Specialist | HR position:
· $30 / Hour
· Full-Time | Short-Term Temporary (4-6 Week Assignment)

Job Duties for Compensation and Benefits Specialist | HR:
· Coordinate day-to-day HR operations, employee compensation, open enrollment, and benefits management, excluding leave management
· Provide leadership and technical support to employees and management on HR-related inquiries and policies
· Ensure accurate benefits enrollment in the HR Information System and manage vendor relationships
· Lead compensation program oversight, including position analysis and compliance with regulations
· Act as plan representative for the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) and manage group health, dental, COBRA, and life insurance plans
· Maintain Affirmative Action Plan data and file annual EEO-1 and Vets 100 reports
· Oversee electronic HR information systems and ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements
· Collaborate with the Chief Human Resources Officer on personnel policies and departmental objectives
· Respond to inquiries and provide guidance on HR matters to employees and supervisors
· Participate in trainings and meetings to stay updated on trends in compensation and benefits
· Serve on assigned committees and represent the Agency at job fairs, managing HRIS entries as needed
· Follow all policies and procedures in place
· Completes any other related tasks as needed
Qualifications and Desired Skills for Compensation and Benefits Specialist | HR:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Finance, or related field, plus two years of HR experience
· Professional Certification in Human Resources or SHRM Certified Professional preferred
· Notary Public
· Two to three years of supervisory experience preferred
· Experienced in administering employee benefits (health, welfare, defined benefit and contribution plans) and compensation, preferably with VRS, and knowledgeable in public personnel management principles, practices, and relevant legal standards
· Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data, with research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Excellent written and oral communications skills
· Strong interpersonal skills with expertise in conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision-making, and effective organization and time management
· Strong computer skills
· Ability to sit for duration of shift and lift up to 5lbs
