Are you looking a new opportunity in Wytheville? Luttrell Staffing Group is currently seeking candidates for Crane Operator!
Crane Operator Duties:
  • Responsible for the operation of cranes used in a heavy civil construction environment.
  • Will assist team leaders and signal persons with pre-pick planning and coordination.
  • Responsible for the personal safety and safety of co-workers at all times.
  • Responsible for assuring that all lifting gear has been inspected prior to the start of any lifting operations. These inspections include, but are not limited to slings, cables, straps, and the crane.
  • Will perform preventative maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of the crane.
  • Will be responsible for rigger's compliance within company policy, safety guidelines and procedures that pertain to that crane operator's job.
  • Remain in continual voice (radio), hand, and/or communicate with rigger while operating the crane.
  • Participate in safety meetings and other safety programs.
  • Assure that all lifts are within load limits of equipment and correctly rigged.
  • Follow all correct lock-out and tag procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • Thorough understanding of the practices involved in the use of various types of heavy equipment (i.e. excavators, dozers, wheeled loaders).
  • Must be able to safely and accurately operate a friction crane.
  • Thorough understanding of safety rules and ability to safely operate equipment.
  • Superior skill operating assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Must be knowledgeable about and follow the company's safety policy and procedures.
  • Must adhere to all safety regulations and procedures and work harmoniously and cooperatively with others at all times.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure.
  • Ability to comprehend written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to analyze machine malfunctions and repairs; operate and inspect machines by examining parts for damage or excessive wear.
  • Dependable transportation & willingness to travel.
  • Must be able to pass a background check in addition to DOT Drug Test.
  • Must be able to physically operate heavy equipment.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of apprenticeship program or related experience and/or training.
  • At least 5 years of experience operating construction equipment and friction cranes in a heavy civil construction environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate construction equipment and perform rough and finish-grade work.
  • CCO/NCCCO certified with LBC designation. TLL and TSS designations are a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Safety Sensitive Position:This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position requires working at heights, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
