Details for Maintenance Technician | Utility Position:
· $16.54 / Hour

Job Duties for Maintenance Technician | Utility Position:
· Performs manual and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of streets, utilities, buildings, grounds, and facilities to support department operations in all weather and environmental conditions
· Assists with installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater systems including mains, valves, hydrants, pump systems, and sewer lines, and collects water samples for testing
· Conducts general road and grounds maintenance including asphalt and concrete repairs, traffic flagging, mowing, vegetation control, sign repair, debris removal, and storm sewer upkeep such as ditching and culvert repairs
· Clears trees and limbs from roadways and right-of-ways, assists with snow removal, and maintains equipment in clean, operable condition
· Responds to on-call and after-hours assignments as required
· Follow all policies and safety procedures in place
· Completes any other related tasks as needed
Qualifications and Desired Skills for Maintenance Technician | Utility Position:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Ability to obtain valid Tennessee CDL with “N” endorsement within six months of hire
· Ability to prioritize and manage high-volume work while adapting to changing priorities
· Knowledge of City policies, procedures, and practices preferred
· Strong teamwork and effective working relationships
· Professional demeanor and responsible control in public interactions
· Accountability for quality, timeliness, and completion of assigned tasks under supervision
· Flexibility to work required hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies
· Ability to perform mathematical calculations necessary for position
· Ability to stand for duration of shift
· Ability to lift up to 100 lbs on occasion
· Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach
