Key duties for Material Handler | General Laborer:
  • The Material Handler is integral to the day-to-day operations of the warehouse
  • Unloads and loads trucks and containers
  • Move pallets of material between storage and production and maintain the inventory in storage
  • Unload and examine incoming shipments to confirm receipt and condition of goods
  • Loads and ensures the accuracy, completeness, and condition of outgoing shipments including verifying the pallet identification and packaging requirements. Utilizes strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent damage in transit
  • Properly store materials in the correct location and maintain the inventory in the warehouse in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion
  • Identify damaged items, shortages, and non-scannable pallets, and notify management for resolution
  • Moves pallets of material between storage and production for processing
  • Participates in the inventory process including scanning pallets, identifying location, and determining age of board for FIFO
  • May be required to operate the baler
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED): or six to twelve months of warehouse experience and/or training
  • Ability to drive a forklift, pallet jack, and/or hand truck, or the willingness and ability to be trained in the operation. Forklift certification a plus, but not required
  • Computer literacy and aptitude to operate scanners and other software and equipment used in inventory
  • Commitment to safety and security; knowledge of OSHA standards or the willingness to learn about health and safety requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, job orders and specifications
  • Ability to complete required paperwork and routine daily production reports related to warehouse operations
  • Ability to understand and independently carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to address problems, consider available resolutions based on past experience, and determine solutions. Asks for clarification if job specifications or resolutions to problems are not clear
  • Maintains professional communication and interactions with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management
