Job Duties for Material Specialist Position:
- Review customer orders for material specifications, quantities, pricing, configurations, and accuracy
- Identify, investigate, and correct order discrepancies before production or shipment
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Sales, Operations, Purchasing, Production, and other teams to resolve material-related issues
- Support Customer Service team members with product knowledge, material specifications, and order-entry guidance
- Monitor recurring order issues and recommend process improvements to reduce errors and delays
- Maintain documentation for common issues, corrective actions, best practices, and order-review procedures
- Assist with developing and updating standard operating procedures for material verification and order review
- Track and report order-accuracy and corrective-action performance metrics
- Participate in continuous-improvement efforts to enhance order quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Customer Service
- Follow all policies and safety procedures in place
- Completes any other related tasks as needed
Qualifications and Desired Skills for Material Specialist Position:
- Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- At least 2 years of experience in customer service, order management, materials, manufacturing, or a related field
- Experience investigating and resolving process, order, or data discrepancies preferred
- Knowledge of order processing, inventory control, and material management
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
- Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes
- Excellent organization, time-management, and multitasking abilities
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and build positive working relationships
- Proficiency with ERP systems, order-management software, Microsoft Office, and Excel
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Initiative, adaptability, and a continuous-improvement mindset
- Ability to stand for duration of shift
- Ability to lift up to 30-50 lbs
- Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach
