Meat Cutter
Job Description

- Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Greets customers and provides them with prompt and courteous service or assistance as needed
- Assists in checking and verifying the Meat Department receiving's when necessary
- Assists with weighing and breaking down meat products
- Takes products to refrigerated storage or shelf areas
- Ensures that all meat cuts are properly trimmed and attractively presented
- Ensures that product pricing makes adequate allowances for tare weights and shrink, as applicable
- Prices and displays product cases as directed by Department Manager
- Assists in wrapping and labeling product as required
- Rotates all of the products in accordance with department policies and product code dates
- Assists with scheduled inspections of packaged products for freshness and for visual appeal, pulling products for re-wrapping as required
- Checks refrigeration equipment regularly for proper temperatures and performance
- Takes care of damaged and spoiled products according to department procedures and takes positive action to control shrinkage
- Maintains a regular and effective housekeeping and sanitation program that meets all of the standards established by the department and all applicable health regulations
- Participates in training activities to increase personal skill levels, and to improve overall department processes and customer service
- Meets the physical requirements to perform the job functions listed above
- Other job related tasks as needed
Qualifications for Deli Slicer:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience in Meat Department operations is a plus
- Ability to perform standing job
- Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
