Location: Watsonville or San Luis Obispo, California
Pay: $25-$28 per hour
Minimum of 2 years HR/Payroll experience or equivalent education required

The Payroll Specialist will travel to Luttrell Staffing Group headquarters in Tennessee to train for two weeks but can be based in Watsonville, CA, or San Luis Obispo. Occasional day travel to assigned California branches.

Job Description
Luttrell Staffing Group: Payroll & Compliance Specialist
Location: Watsonville or San Luis Obispo, California
Pay: $25-$28 per hour
Minimum of 2 years HR/Payroll experience or equivalent education required

The Payroll Specialist will travel to Luttrell Staffing Group headquarters in Tennessee to train for two weeks but can be based in Watsonville, CA, or San Luis Obispo. Occasional day travel to assigned California branches.
Day-to-Day
- Payroll (process payroll submitted by the Branch Managers)
- Ensure time is reported with lunch out/lunch return punches
- Maintain accurate records and pay appropriate meal break violations.
- Audit preventative harassment training
- Track and audit sick leave eligibility and payment
- Audit associate and client files for compliance
- Excellent working knowledge of employment law: State and Federal
- Assist with staff training needs as deemed necessary by HR
- Manage unemployment claims, submit responses, and coordinate with the branches to minimize liability
- Occasional day travel to assigned branches (San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Salinas, and Watsonville)
Key Performance Indicators and Attributes:
- Work with branches/RDs/COO to move branches towards 95% compliance or better
- Coordinate with associates or branch staff to obtain any missing information/documentation
- Excellent communication skills, displaying professional etiquette, both verbal and written
- Excellent computer skills, including competency in Microsoft applications
- Respond well to pressure and maintain a positive demeanor
- Strategic problem-solving and decision-making
- Initiative to assist team members without direction
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks promptly
- Work responsibly with or without supervision
- Meet continuing education and certification requirements, including but not limited to attending law seminars, compliance, and payroll training.
- Maintain a valid driver's license
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Physical Requirements:
- Primarily sedentary work that involves sitting/standing/bending/twisting/kneeling
- Ability to read and write in English and Spanish
- Occasional driving to local branches or clients as needed
